Alessandro is a Research Economist at the European Commission’s DG Joint Research Centre (JRC), where he works at the Competence Centre on Microeconomic Evaluation (CC-ME). His work focuses on evaluating the impact of State aid on firm performance, monitoring developments in the EU telecommunications market, and assessing the quality of State aid expenditure data as well as analysing trends in reporting practices across Member States.
He is also an Honorary Research Associate at the School of Medicine and Population Health at the University of Sheffield, where he previously worked as an applied econometrician. Alessandro earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Sheffield in 2018.
His research interests include the application of micro-econometric and causal inference methods to policy evaluation, with a particular focus on industrial policy, labour economics, health economics, and public health.
