John Horton (MIT) presents "AI Agents and Markets", Discussant Kevin Bryan (University of Toronto).
This talk presents some preliminary thoughts on how agents might affect marketplaces, focusing on price discovery, preference elicitation, competition, bargaining and market design. It discusses a new paper using some of these agentic approaches to simulate job matching in a labor market setting. The talk concludes with some thoughts on tooling and infrastructure to accelerate research in this area.
