Piero Basaglia is an Assistant Professor (Maître de conférences) at the University of Bordeaux and a Distinguished Affiliate Member of the CESifo Research Network. His research applies quasi-experimental methods to study two major environmental challenges: climate change and ambient air pollution. Much of his work evaluates the design and effectiveness of environmental and energy policies, with a focus on their interactions with public health, biodiversity conservation, and distributional impacts. He is the co-recipient of the 2024 Joachim Herz Prize for the collaborative project "Mapping the Effects of Environmental Policies".
